Amalfi Coast Honeymoon Adventure

COUPLES TIPS TRAVEL

Ah, what can I say about the picturesque Amalfi Coast besides it’s GORGEOUS??! It’s the perfect destination for couples to get some amazing photos. There’s no end to the lovely backdrops. I spent a few weeks in Italy and had shoots scheduled while I was there, and it was such a great way to experience a new place. This Amalfi Coast honeymoon shoot was absolutely gorgeous! Stick to the end and you might find a fun little gif 🙂

A colorful Amalfi Coast honeymoon adventure

If you’re looking for an insanely gorgeous spot, the Amalfi Coast is it! It’s scenic and friendly.

I picked up a few traveling tips for those of you looking to vacation or honeymoon in Positano along the Amalfi Coast, so keep reading!

On the day of Crystal + Taylor’s shoot, it had been raining hard all day so I was worried that we’d have to reschedule. But despite the gloomy weather, they were down to spend a fun afternoon with me at one of the most romantic spots in Italy!

Thankfully, we didn’t have to deal with any rain! Crystal + Taylor were on a romantic honeymoon in Positano, along the Amalfi Coast, after their destination wedding in Scotland. We met at Spaggia Grande Beach in Positano. They had requested the beach because of the iconic colorful houses on the hill, and the sea of blue beach umbrellas. It made for an awesome backdrop for photos!

Depending on the time and season, Spaggia Grande Beach in Positano will be crowded!

If you want to enjoy an empty beach to yourself, make sure to schedule an early morning shoot. If you’d rather go to less touristy spots, check out where the locals go: Fornillo Beach. It’s quieter and less crowded, but just as pretty!

We strolled from one spot on the beach to the other, doing silly prompts that made them laugh to snuggling in close and sharing their favorite thing about each other.

If you ever visit Positano, you’ll always ruefully remember the stairs.

Positano is notorious for the amount of stairs. Be prepared to work out those thigh muscles!

15 minutes of straight stairs going straight up or straight down was a struggle. Everyone gets out of breath and sweats like crazy as you make eye contact with each other. There’s a deep, deep empathy, when you lock eyes, rooting each other on to make it. I kid you not, my calves looked so developed and shapely from multiple trips up and down those stairs. I’m really not a stairs person but I’ll do it for the photo and my couples!

If you’re planning an Amalfi Coast, Italy honeymoon, make sure to pack LIGHT.

You’ll thank me later. This is not the place to lug your huge rolling suitcase around. Because there are no elevators in Positano.

I repeat, there are NO ELEVATORS in Positano.

You’ll have to hold your luggage and drag it up the stairs on your own. Depending on where you’re staying, that ordeal might be so exhausting that it could be the biggest thing you remember from Positano! We can’t have that!

You CAN hire a private driver or wait around to ride the bus, but Positano only has one way streets. Depending on where you’re staying, you might have to go all the way around the town just to get back to your lodging by car. If you opt for the stairs instead, it may only be a 10 minute hike.

When first arriving in Positano, it’s perfect if you have a driver drop you off at your place. But the locals all walk, because waiting for a private driver or bus can take too long.

Another tip: If you plan ahead and have the finances, grab a hotel close to the beach in Positano. It will minimize the amount of walking you’ll have to do (especially if you’re planning to travel with large luggage).

Also, the roads along the Amalfi Coast are perilously windy. If you’re not used to driving on the Amalfi Coast, I would not recommend renting a car. Just one less thing to worry about! From all the people I talked to, they said it was scary and stressful driving the winding roads to Positano.

For the best sunset views over Positano, make sure to go early to grab a spot at Franco’s Bar at Le Sirenuse.

You’ll be high enough to get your iconic Insta-worthy postcard photo here. Grab a drink, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
